Group Lead Support Worker – Beehive Group

People in Action has been working with people with autistic people and those with learning disabilities in Leeds since 1983. We have an exciting opportunity for an Group Lead Support Worker to join our wonderful team at People in Action.

The post holder is required to be part of the Changing Lives service in the role of Lead Support Worker for Beehive Club based at Crossgreen Community Centre, Pool Road, Otley. The post holder will support our members to participate and learn life skills in health and wellbeing, independence, sport, social and leisure activities.

We are looking for an experienced and approachable individual to join our Beehive Group team. You will be working closely with a Support Worker and volunteers, the successful candidate will support our members to participate and learn life skills in health and wellbeing, independence, sport, social and leisure activities. It will be important for the candidate to be committed to delivering outcome-based activities with a strong person-centred approach.

Salary: £10.33 per hour

Play, Fun, Learn – Group Play Workers

People in Action has been working with people with learning disabilities and autism in Leeds since 1983. We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen for two new members of staff to join our Play Fun Learn, Children’s Group which is located at The Vinery Centre, Leeds, LS9 9LU.

We have two vacancies available:

1 x Group Play Worker – Fixed Term Contract to 31st December 2020 (Subject to review in line with current funding)

1 x Group Play Worker – Maternity Contract up to 31st December 2020 (If successful with extension of funding this role could last approx. to 7th March 2021)

You will be part of a team which includes 1 group lead along with 3 support workers.

To assist in the delivery of the Play, Fun, Learn sessions, providing inclusive youth-led activities to children with learning disabilities, including autism and Asperger’s, aged 8 – 12 years old. You will be responsible for contributing to the development of activities which meet the outcomes of the project whilst supporting and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the children during the session.

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic person who has experience of working with children who have a learning disability, Autism or complex needs.

The sessions run on Sundays between 10am and 2pm, working over 40 weeks per year. Please note this is not a term time position. The rate of pay for a Group Play Worker is £9 per hour.

We will receive the final decision to any extension of funding in August 2020.

Weekend Support Worker – Count Me In One to One Service 

People in Action has been working with people with learning disabilities in Leeds since 1983. We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen within our Count Me In Service (One to One support) for support workers who are available to work over the weekend.

The role will be to provide one to one support that is tailored to meet the individual needs of the member and fulfil their personal goals.  The successful candidate will support our members who have mild, moderate to complex needs and/or challenging behaviour, with learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger’s and mental health difficulties. The Support Worker will support the members to access social opportunities that are available at the weekend. This will require a flexible and imaginative approach to fulfilling the choices requiring building up of knowledge and contacts within local services.       

We are looking for an individual with a minimum of 12 months experience working within a care / support work setting. The individual will have the ability to encourage and engage our members to meet their needs and aspirations. It would be advantageous if you were a car driver with business insurance. Expenses are paid for mileage use at 45p per mile.

 Fundraising Trustee

People in Action are looking for a committed experienced person, to join the Board of Trustees. We are looking for someone with experience of fundraising, to help identify new opportunities, build strong relationships with potential funders in the locality, oversee our funding strategy and take the lead on the Board for fundraising activities.  
The Board of Trustees sets the vision, the strategic direction, and management of the charity. It is responsible for overall governance which includes being guardians of the charity’s assets, overseeing operational effectiveness, funding, finance, and human resources. All trustees are unpaid. The Board meets every two months, usually on Mondays between 6pm – 8pm.
