TEAM Youth Group Support Worker

People in Action has been working with people with learning disabilities in Leeds since 1983. We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen for one new member of staff within our TEAM Youth Group which is located in Crossgates. After the groups continue to grow in numbers, we hope to add a 4th member of staff to the team.

The role will be to provide inclusive youth led activities to young people with learning disabilities, including Autism and Aspergers aged 13 – 18 years old. The responsibility of the support worker will be to assist the lead in delivering the TEAM youth sessions.

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic person who has experience of working with children and young people who have a learning disability, Autism or complex needs,

The sessions run on Saturdays between 10am and 2pm, working over 40 weeks per year. Please note this is not a term time position. The rate of pay for a Group Support Worker is £9 per hour. This is a fixed term contract up to December 2020 and will be reviewed in line the grant funding.

Play, Fun, Learn Children’s Group Support Worker  

People in Action has been working with people with learning disabilities in Leeds since 1983. We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen for one new member of staff within our Play Fun Learn, Childrens Group Support Worker which is located in Greenmeadows School, Guiseley. After the groups continue to grow in numbers, we hope to add a 4th member of staff to the team.

To assist in the delivery of the Play, Fun, Learn sessions, providing inclusive youth-led activities to children with learning disabilities, including autism and Asperger’s, aged 8 – 12 years old. You will be responsible for contributing to the development of activities which meet the outcomes of the project whilst supporting and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the children during the session.

Co-Lead Group Support Worker- Pudsey Group 

People in Action has been working with people with learning disabilities in Leeds since 1983. We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen within our Changing Lives Service for a Co-Lead Group Support worker who is available to attend the group on Thursday evenings. 

We are looking for an experienced and approachable individual to join our Pudsey Group team.  You will be working closely with an experienced Group Lead Support Worker, the successful candidate will support our members to participate and learn life skills in health and wellbeing, independence, sport, social and leisure activities. It will be important for the candidate to be committed to delivering outcome-based activities with a strong person-centred approach.

Weekend Support Worker – Count Me In One to One Service 

People in Action has been working with people with learning disabilities in Leeds since 1983. We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen within our Count Me In Service (One to One support) for support workers who are available to work over the weekend.

The role will be to provide one to one support that is tailored to meet the individual needs of the member and fulfil their personal goals.  The successful candidate will support our members who have mild, moderate to complex needs and/or challenging behaviour, with learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger’s and mental health difficulties. The Support Worker will support the members to access social opportunities that are available at the weekend. This will require a flexible and imaginative approach to fulfilling the choices requiring building up of knowledge and contacts within local services.       

We are looking for an individual with a minimum of 12 months experience working within a care / support work setting. The individual will have the ability to encourage and engage our members to meet their needs and aspirations.

 Fundraising Trustee

People in Action are looking for a committed experienced person, to join the Board of Trustees. We are looking for someone with experience of fundraising, to help identify new opportunities, build strong relationships with potential funders in the locality, oversee our funding strategy and take the lead on the Board for fundraising activities.  
The Board of Trustees sets the vision, the strategic direction, and management of the charity. It is responsible for overall governance which includes being guardians of the charity’s assets, overseeing operational effectiveness, funding, finance, and human resources. All trustees are unpaid. The Board meets every two months, usually on Mondays between 6pm – 8pm.
