Chief Executive Officer

Salary Rate: £40,000 per annum (pending pay review)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Location: The Old Fire Station, Gipton Approach, Gipton, Leeds, LS9 6NL

People In Action (Yorkshire) are now looking for a new chief executive to bring a fresh approach and radical thinking. The shape and role of the voluntary sector is changing. It is facing a myriad of new opportunities and challenges.

The importance of values, inclusive leadership and the value of collaboration are just some of the significant themes emerging as possible solutions. People In Action needs to reflect on such challenges and assist the voluntary sector to address them.

We are seeking a candidate with commitment, vision, creativity and energy who can ensure that the organisation is well placed strategically for the future.

An ideal leader will be exceptional; adept, service user focused, understands challenges and has a deep understanding of the lived experiences of people with learning disabilities and Autism. 

You will be a skilled communicator who will work in collaboration with the Board to lead the delivery of the Charity’s strategic aims.

Support Workers – Count Me In One to One Service

To provide one to one support that is tailored to meet the individual needs of the Member and fulfill their personal goals.  To support our Members who have mild, moderate to complex needs and/or challenging behaviour, with learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger’s and mental health difficulties. The Support Worker will support the Members to access services or activities of their choice.  This will require a flexible and imaginative approach to fulfilling the choices requiring building up of knowledge and contacts within local services.       

Salary Rate: £8.01 per hour        

Hours: Various

Location: Various locations in and around Leeds

Leeds Stars – Volunteer Coordinator

Leeds Stars is an exciting new affiliated Special Olympics club that provide an all year round, all ability, sports program of both a recreational and competitive nature across Leeds for athletes with learning disabilities with pathways to the Special Olympics and regional and national competitions.

We are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to be the point of contact for all volunteers within Leeds Stars Club. He / she is responsible for ensuring that the requested number of volunteers are assigned to the required roles for the everyday running of the club and in their competitions and that all volunteers are officially registered with Special Olympics Great Britain. He / she should ensure that all volunteers are deployed appropriately, valued and recognised for their time and contribution.

Role: This is a voluntary, unpaid role 

Hours: 12 hours per month

Location: The Old Fire Station, Gipton Approach, Gipton, Leeds, LS9 6NL (Home working / alternative location is acceptable for this role)

 Fundraising Trustee

People in Action are looking for a committed experienced person, to join the Board of Trustees. We are looking for someone with experience of fundraising, to help identify new opportunities, build strong relationships with potential funders in the locality, oversee our funding strategy and take the lead on the Board for fundraising activities.  

The Board of Trustees sets the vision, the strategic direction, and management of the charity. It is responsible for overall governance which includes being guardians of the charity’s assets, overseeing operational effectiveness, funding, finance, and human resources. All trustees are unpaid. The Board meets every two months, usually on Mondays between 6pm – 8pm.

Location: Gipton, Leeds
