Leeds Stars

The Leeds Stars logo shows the People in Action figure, plus some yellow stars

Leeds Stars is our brand new sports programme for  people with learning disabilities or autism. It is funded by The National Lottery and Sport England.

If you are interested in sport, then why not come to the Leeds Stars Sports Academy. You can try out lots of different sports, such as football, boccia, athletics, and many others. The academy opens in early 2019 so please keep checking this page for more details, contact grace.purnell@peopleinaction.org.uk or call 0113 2443729.

As well as the academy, we are also running a swimming group that meets on a Wednesday evening. Please click here for more information. Early in 2019 we will also be running a football club, an athletics club and a club dedicated to boccia and bowls.

Although the Leeds Stars project is new, it wouldn’t have happened without Pudsey Gateway’s Special Olympics athletes who have been training and competing for years.

They have been involved with the Special Olympics since 1989. Dedicated volunteers have helped with the training, which has meant that hundreds of people have been able to compete in international competitions worldwide. This has given them confidence, ability and a huge sense of achievement.
