Volunteering

Become a Volunteer! Here at People in Action we rely on our excellent team of volunteers to help make our groups the best quality that they can be. If you:

  • Have some spare time
  • Would like to make a big difference to someone’s life
  • Would like to work with an amazing group of staff
  • Would benefit from gaining experience that could help you find paid work in the future We’d love to hear from you.

Lightbulb Club

The Lightbulb Club is the name our members chose to call our members’ forum. The group meets 4 times a year. It is open to anyone who uses our services. It is a chance for you to tell us what you think. We ask you what do you like about People in Action. We ask you what we could change to make our services better. We ask for ideas of new things we could do. If you have a one-to-one support worker, or if you go to any of our groups and courses, you could come to the Lightbulb Club .

Referrals – Joining Groups

If you or someone you know would like to join any of our groups, then please follow the following steps:

Become a Trustee

We are looking for committed and experienced people to join the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees sets the vision, the strategic direction, and management of the charity. It is responsible for overall governance which includes being guardians of the charity’s assets, overseeing operational effectiveness, funding, finance, and human resources. All trustees are unpaid. The Board meets every two months. If you are interested in joining us, please contact Rachel Koivunen, our CEO

People in Action (Yorkshire) is a thriving Leeds-based charity, established in 1983 to benefit learning disabled and autistic people. The charity makes a real difference to the lives of the most vulnerable and socially isolated; inspiring and empowering people to recognise their potential, fulfill their aspirations and lead safer, healthier, better connected lives.

The charity provides a range of innovative, inclusive, person centred services which reflect the needs of the people it supports. The activities are wide ranging and include the provision of opportunities for sports and leisure, learning, employment, health, wellbeing and the development of life skills. The range of activities runs from practical courses in employability to social groups that meet in the community to enjoy leisure time together. Through individual care packages the charity also provides practical one to one support tailored to the needs to the individual.
